Where nature, national culture, and superstition meet—an illustration for The Ark Project.

The idea of The Ark Project was simple: artists from around the world create an illustrated version of Noah’s Ark. DGPH, an Argentinian design studio that initiated the project, invited me to contribute a Polish animal to the collection.
My animal of choice, the white stork (Ciconia ciconia), is one of the symbols of Poland, and a bird deeply engrained in the Polish culture, folk tales, and our superstitions. This illustration portrays one of them—the belief that stork’s nest perched on the roof protects the house from a thunderstrike.
International exhibits, prints, and a book document the project, and profits benefitted wildlife protection organizations.
